Sharp's Brewery is a modern brewer of cask conditioned beer. Since its foundation in 1994 at Rock in Cornwall the Brewery has grown rapidly to become the largest brewer of cask beer in the South West and brewer of Doom Bar, one of the UK's fastest growing beer brands.Doom Bar Bitter is named after an infamous sandbank at the mouth of the Camel Estuary in north Cornwall. The Doom bar is at its most dangerous between low and high tides when it is submerged by just a few feet. Unsuspecting mariners can easily become stranded or in extreme weather shipwrecked.

Indian Pale Ale (IPA) was first brewed in the 19th Century. Naturally preserved by high alcohol and strong hops the beer was well set to survive the long and hot journey under sail to India. With Atlantic IPA Sharp's Brewery has taken the essence of the original IPA and modernised it to create a crisp beer with a superb dry finish and a light golden colour. As a brewery sitting on Cornwall's Atlantic coast the naming of this beer came naturally. The RNLI commitment to saving lives at sea is legendary and to support this cause, a proportion of all Atlantic IPA sales will be donated to the RNLI.

The idea for Chalky's Bite came about as a challenge from Rick Stein to Sharp's Head Brewer Stuart Howe. The task was to create a distinctly English beer with the character, individuality and quality to stand alongside the Belgian greats. The beer created is exceptional with a delicate flavour balance of three different hop varieties and wild Cornish fennel. With a totally natural process and a maturation period of over three months the beer is allowed ample time to develop a high level of carbonation, its own distinctive flavour and a beautiful light golden colour. Chalky's patience whilst attending the many development and sampling sessions at the Brewery is justifiably rewarded in the name.

St Austell Brewery has grown steadily from the initial vision of a young Cornishman called Walter Hicks in 1851, it is still an independent, family owned regional brewer. Proper Job is an authentic IPA brewed with Cornish spring water and malt made from a blend of malts including Cornish grown Maris Otter barley. Proper Job is dedicated to the 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment who stoutly defended their garrison during the Indian Mutiny in 1857-58. Throughout the siege the traditional "Sunset Ceremony" (beating the retreat and lowering the national flag) was ignored as an act of defiance to the mutineers. In recognition of a "Proper Job" Queen Victoria awarded the 32nd the honour

Tribute is a popular favourite with locals and visitors to Cornwall, as well as being a much sought after guest ale throughout the rest of the UK. It is brewed using specially grown Cornish Gold Malt and is a perfect accompaniment to chicken, gammon or fish. The ideal alternative to a fine white wine. Roger Protz, Editor Good Beer Guide, recently reviewed Tribute. "Tribute is a magnificent example of a bronze coloured English bitter, with a rich aroma of biscuity malt and tart citrus fruit from the Willamette hops. Juicy malt, hop resins and tangy fruit coat the tongue, while the finish is long and lingering, with a fine balance between malt, hops and fruit, finally becoming dry and bitter"*Voted Supreme Champion Cornish Ale, CAMRA Falmouth Beer Festival 2004.

One of Cornwall's newest breweries, Lizard started full-time brewing in late 2004 from premises in St. Keverne on the Lizard peninsula. The style of beer which is nowadays called India Pale Ale was developed in the 19th century when brewers discovered two things first that ships carrying materials to England from India were often sailing back empty, making the carriage from England to India cheap; and second, that hops were a natural preservative. So India Pale Ales were developed: bottled beers brewed strong and with lots of hops, allowing them to survive the long hot trip to India. Our Frenchmans Creek is a modern-day version 4.8%, pale tan in colour and brewed with bucketfuls of hops!

An Gof is brewed using a complex mixture of malts. As with all of our beers the main ingredient is Maris Otter Pale Malt but with An Gof we use large amounts of other, slower fermenting malts. They include - crystal malt, which gives a rich toffee-ish note; Munich malt, which gives a darker shade; Chocolate malt, which used in small amounts gives an unmistakable flavour of dark chocolate; and the special ingredient which gives An Gof its unique flavour, Smoked Malt, giving a hint of pipe smoke to the finished brew. The predominant hop is Goldings.
